Treadmill Belt SlippingCauses of Treadmill belt SlippingThere are a number of factors that can cause your treadmill belt to slip. Treadmill belt slipping can be caused by a loose belt, by having too much friction, or even if you have just lubricated the belt. If your belt has not been lubricated recently, it is recommended to try and lubricate it with a lubricant that is appropriate for you treadmill. Otherwise check and make sure that the belt is at the appropriate tightness. In most cases this means that you can pull up the side of it 2 - 3 inches. If you can lift the treadmill belt more than this it is probably too loose. If you can't lift it this much it may be too tight. Both of these can cause the treadmill belt to slip.If lubricating and adjusting the tightness of the belt do not fix the slipping, it may be that your treadmill belt is worn out and needs to be replaced. It is extremely rare that a treadmill belt will actually stretch out. In most cases it is a seam on the belt that has stretched or opened up. Other things that can feel like the treadmill belt is slippingIn some cases when you feel a slipping feeling on your treadmill it is not actually the treadmill belt on the rollers. It may be the drive belt between the motor and the rollers themselves. This can be due to a worn out drive belt. If it is this part of your treadmill that is causing the slipping, it is recommended to replace the belt. Tightening the belt may stop the slipping, but overtightening can lead to wearing out more expensive parts of your treadmill. You can also try treating the belt with a drive belt dressing.Other Treadmill Sites: |
