Pruchasing a Proform Treadmill belt

Your Proform treadmill belt is one of the most often replaced parts on your treadmill. Belts are usually the first part to wear out as they take a great deal of abuse. It is much cheaper and easier to simply replace an old worn out belt on your Proform treadmill than to purchase a new treadmill. Proform treadmill belts are quite simple to replace. Detailed instructions will usually be included when you purchase the replacement treadmill belt. It should be noted that you can purchase original Proform treadmill belts, or that there are a number of aftermarket alternative belts that will fit your Proform treadmill.

Proform Treadmill Belt Replacement

Unplug your treadmill from the wall and remove the motor hood. If an adjustment bolt is not visible, mark the positions of the rollers on the bolt on the front and back of the treadmill. This usually works best with a permanent marker as you do not want it to come off..
Gently remove the plastic side covers on the running deck surface. If staples are visible, slide the covers toward the rear of the treadmill. If there are staples in the front and the rear, you will need to remove them gently with a screwdriver. This will break the plastic.
Loosen the walking belt by loosening the bolts on the motor and rocking it forward. Remove the front roller by either loosening the bolt on the side or wiggling the posts out of the holders. It is important that you not remove the bolts from the roller in the rear.
The next step is to remove the running deck. This should only require undoing a few bolts or screws with your Phillips head screwdriver. If your treadmill has side rails, you will have to remove these first. See your owner's manual for instructions.
Slide the belt off and place the new one on. If your new belt has a direction on it, make sure it matches the Proform treadmill belt you just removed. Reverse these steps to finish installing your new belt.
